The students’ first attempt at the End-of-Course Algebra Exam went very well; I am very proud of our 7th grade Algebra students! Most passed on their first try and those who didn’t were very close! We will review the exam together on Friday, and students will have another chance to pass the test next Wednesday.

Students will take the End-of-Course Algebra Exam on Wednesday. We will then review the exam together, and they will take another version of the exam on the day of the final, giving students two chances to pass. Please return your Algebra textbook ASAP! I passed out grade sheets today and gave students time to work on make-up assignments (due Monday) and to do the Science Night Extra Credit review. For homework, students should work on page 613 #21-51 to help prepare for the End of Course Algebra Exam. Please also sign the grade sheet and return with your student on Friday. Students were given permission slips during 6th period for Friday’s Groundbreaking Ceremony. If you would like your student to attend, please sign and return tomorrow! Students, please remember to bring back your End-of-Course Algebra Exam review packet when I see you again next Wednesday (many of you left them in the 6th period inbox, so you’re ready to go!). For homework this weekend, please work on page 612 #1-20. Students should work on their Science Night projects this evening; our next Science Night is this Wednesday from 6-7 pm. Students, please finish your end-of-course practice exam this weekend. Mr. Xiong’s class joined our class for a review session on the End-of-Course Practice Exam. There is no homework this evening. Please work on your CST Review Packet this weekend. Special CST Review Session: Monday (5/5) from 3:30-5:30 On Monday, I will hold a special review session from 3:30-5:30 for just the 6th period Algebra students. It is not mandatory–we’ll have snacks and spend a few extra hours preparing for the CSTs. Ms. Healey will provide cookies, pretzels, and other goodies, but feel free to bring other snacks if you’d like! We played two review games today to prepare for the CST exams next week. For homework, students may want to look up the review questions online (they have a packet to use in class) to continue practicing for the Algebra exam. The review questions and answers can be found at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/sr/documents/rtqalg1.pdf It was confirmed today that our 7th grade algebra students will take the CST Algebra Exam and not the CST 7th Grade Mathematics Exam. We will continue reviewing on Friday and Monday, so it is very important for students to come to school on those days. Students learned how to factor “evil” trinomials with leading coefficients other than one. They had time in class to work on their assignment, pg.280 #31-61 odd, so they shouldn’t have too much homework for Science Night. |
